The Summer Associate Internship. The Lazard Middle Market summer associate internship is a focused 10-week program for MBA students
between their first and second year of business school.
Responsibilities. The summer associate serves as a member of the “deal team,” working directly with managing directors, directors, vice presidents
and analysts on a variety of client matters, primarily mergers and acquisitions. The summer associate will gain in-depth transaction experience,
significant responsibility, client exposure, negotiation skills, and an understanding of transaction structures. In most assignments, the
associate will participate in the following:
- Preparation of and participation in new business presentations
- Business research
- Valuation analysis and financial modeling
- Preparation of Confidential Offering Memorandum
- Development of potential buyer lists
- Preparation of management presentations
- Interaction with clients
- Interaction with potential buyers
- Development, training and mentoring of analysts
Summer associates will receive an excellent introduction to LMM’s full-time associate position. In cases of demonstrated performance and potential, LMM may extend employment offers for its associate position.
Qualifications. Qualified candidates typically possess a combination of the following attributes:
- Strong undergraduate and graduate academic performance (3.5 GPA or better)
- MBA or equivalent graduate school degree in progress
- Merger and acquisition experience
- Background in investment banking, public accounting, or finance
- Strong writing skills, as evidenced by writing samples
- Ability to work a demanding schedule
- Highly motivated, with a strong desire to be the “best of the best”
