Mr. Egan brings 28 years of business experience to the firm as a senior advisor. He began his business career with the Chicago Tribune. Shortly thereafter he joined 3M Company as a salesman and relocated to 3M headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. Subsequently, he joined Transamerica Computer Company as managing director of the United Kingdom subsidiary based in London, England, with oversight responsibilities for a German subsidiary in Frankfurt.
In 1975, Mr. Egan relocated to Milwaukee as vice president/operations for Manpower Temporary Services. As senior vice president, Mr. Egan was instrumental in growing Manpower to $2 billion in revenue. Mr. Egan left Manpower to acquire Mailhouse, Inc., a publicly traded, Minneapolis direct marketing services firm. Mr. Egan took Mailhouse private, forming PrimeNet DataSystems. PrimeNet was generally considered a leading innovator in using data to drive increased customer loyalty and repeat purchases. PrimeNet also pioneered the development of enhanced database creation by linking demographic and psychographic information to more than 100 million household files. PrimeNet was sold to Journal Communications, Inc. in 1993. Mr. Egan remained as president and chief operating officer of PrimeNet until October 1995, when he left the company to form Tamarack Holdings as an investment vehicle to fund seed and development capital ideas.
Mr. Egan currently serves on several boards of directors including Park Bank in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he has served since 1988; Personnel Group of America in Charlotte, North Carolina (NYSE/PGA), an IPO brought public in September 1995; Master Coating Technologies, Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota, and Global Publishing L.L.C., Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and has also participated as an advisor in various M&A transactions.
