Andrew Torgove joined Lazard Middle Market in 2006 as a managing director, and is co-head of its distressed advisory and restructuring practice. Mr. Torgove comes to the firm with over 20 years of experience in executing M&A, refinancing and restructuring transactions for both distressed and healthy companies. His prior restructuring assignments include representation of Dura Automotive, Morris Publishing, Meridian Automotive, Waterford Wedgwood, Heartland Automotive Industries, Tokheim Gas Pumps, Bruegger’s Bagels, Jillian’s Restaurants, and Plainwell Paper.

Prior to joining Lazard Middle Market, Mr. Torgove was a managing director at Stairway Capital, a $330 million fund focused on buying distressed middle market companies, with a focus on purchasing senior debt positions. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Torgove was a director in Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin’s restructuring practice as co-head of the company’s distressed M&A practice in New York.

Mr. Torgove received a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research, a master’s degree in economics from Boston College, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
