Mr. Torgove joined the firm in 2006 as a Managing Director, and is co-head of its distressed advisory and restructuring practice. Mr.
Torgove comes to the firm with over 20 years of experience in executing M&A, refinancing and restructuring transactions for both
healthy and distressed companies. His prior restructuring assignments include representation of Waterford Wedgwood, Heartland
Automotive Industries, In Phonic, Renova Energy, Arthur D. Little, Tokheim Gas Pumps, Bruegger’s Bagels, Jillian’s Restaurants and
Plainwell Paper.
Prior to joining Goldsmith Agio Helms (now Lazard Middle Market), Mr. Torgove was a Managing Director at Stairway Capital, a $330
million fund focused on buying distressed middle market companies, with a focus on purchasing senior debt positions. From 1996 to
2004, Mr. Torgove was a Director in Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin’s restructuring practice as co-head of the company’s New York
Distressed M&A practice.
Mr. Torgove received his Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research, his in M.A. Economics from Boston College, and
his B.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
